AMAZING Project updates!

I have to admit, I am VERY impressed with the talent we've seen in preparation for Harvest of Talents. I am SO excited about all of these projects! Here are some updates:

This world map project and the tree project below it were both started by Rachel Hutson's small group on our first work night. They recently finished them and immediately submitted the photos. These are just a couple of the INCREDIBLE items that will be up for auction on May 20!

Sue Bohanan has also been working hard in preparation for Harvest of Talents! She told us she is having SO much fun working on several different projects! Below are some pictures of aprons, purses, and a lap quilt (still in progress). THANK YOU FOR SHARING, Sue!! :)

Awesome Work Night!

Thank you to all of you who came to participate and share in our first Harvest of Talents work night! The evening was a blast, and the HOT team was SO inspired by all of the neat projects happening! We will definitely be scheduling another work night SOON, so get ready! :)

We have so many creative & talented people committed to contributing THEIR talent in this awesome effort for world hunger. For those of you who weren't able to make it, we missed you! And we hope that you are inspired by the projects already in progress. Actually, while so many of the projects LOOKED awesome, a lot of them were just simple ideas found in a magazine or website. Don't be afraid to branch out!

This small group from Lakeway has chosen the shims mirror project mentioned in a previous blog. This project was SO simple but is turning out really neat! It's a great project for a large group. To change it up a little, we decided to paint each section of shims, and arrange them in a pattern.

This small group has decided to put their own twist on the map project mentioned in a previous blog. They worked all night decoupaging the background of this map with scrapbook paper! They've got a ways to go, but the final project is sure to be incredible.

This group found this neat idea for a 4-panel tree on pinterest! Each of the four panels is a different color to represent a different season. HOW COOL?!

And check this out! Molly found this idea on Pinterest too! She is putting CRAYONS through a hot glue gun to create these BEAUTIFUL canvasses! I've never seen anything like it. On May 20, I will definitely have to keep my eye on this collection!

Share Your Ideas!

It's so great to see all the ideas Denise has been posting on the blog!  As a non-crafter, it's inspiring to see all these crafty ideas.  I think even I could do some of these!  We've heard a ton of excellent feedback from other people about inspirations for contributions as well.  Let us know what you're working on and we'll post it on the blog!  Send a picture or link of your creation or inspiration to us and we'll feature it on the blog.  Just email harvestoftalentseasttn@gmail.com with an idea and we'd love to post it.  I'll be updating soon with my non-crafty talent contributions, but as a teaser I know of at least one person who's donating drum lessons.  Super cool!

Home Projects!

Guys. I am having SO much fun checking out different project ideas for Harvest of Talents. This is a problem for my budget! I'm going to want to make all of these projects and buy them too! :) I've been doing some searching around and I found a couple of other really cute ideas!

First is this neat mailing tube wine rack. This one is built right into someone's kitchen shelf, but I can totally see someone with some vision turning this project into a neat addition for HOT. Maybe under a coffee table or maybe a hanging shelf? Sky's the limit!

Mosaics!!

Looking for a project to do together with friends or your small group? A mosaic is a great project that a whole group could work together to create. Many hands could contribute to the finding of pieces, breaking apart, and placing tiles... Here are some various mosaic pieces and sites with further ideas & info:

Christmassy Crafts :)

Ok. So we are not supposed to be doing JUST crafts, but that happens to be my personal niche. Anyway, Rachel's post the other day got me hooked on that Crafters Annonymous site. Here's another page of cute ideas I found there! On is a wreath made of burlap, another is an advent calendar made of baby jar tops! I know some mommies out there who could totally get those for us :) There are even more ideas on the site.
